Theme of the Game
The game is a classic mini-mobile MOBA and, unlike other games, it doesn’t carry a lot of baggage from its PC servers. Matches are insanely fast – at 4 minutes split ends -- before a draw is finally declared. Only two lanes are available and each player has 3 castles, and the main aim of the game is to destroy more Crown Towers than that of your opponent.
There’s no hero in particular to learn or be scared of, only a host of a different class of missile and army troops you deploy onto the board you should be careful about. You can take a total of 8 units into battle. Everyone gets a default eighth unit at start, and a small select few of new ones can be unlocked through “Pay” or “Play” deck area of the game. It’s very similar to a card model where you put stuff in and out of a deck as you gain access to other units or choose to further upgrade the ones which you already have. As your rank gets high, you gradually gain access to a more variety of cards – actually this is where the massive appeal of the game comes into play!
The units don’t have much statistics, what there is thou, help create a convoluted web of attack and counterattacks. Packs of small units, on the other hand, can be swiftly rid of with splash damage. Similarly, splash damage unit packs can be effectively attacked by flying troops, even though are quite vulnerable to packs of small missile unit nevertheless.
How to Play
You’ve got 3 towers – 2 small ones to the left and right of the screen, and the King tower in the middle behind. Your opponent, a real person actually, has the same setup opposite you. It’s your job to send out different troops, represented by a stack of cards at the bottom of screen. All you have to do is drag the card where you want to locate your units, and then release the card. Simple! These cards have different elixir costs and, just like in a tower defense game, your elixir renews over time.
You’ve also got spells and buildings at your disposal, all deployed in the same way like the troops – and cost elixir too. More so, each card you play has some strengths and weakness in between; hence, learning their over roles is vital to kicking some ass. The game also adds an extra striking twist in the last minute as well.
With 60 seconds left your elixir starts recharging impulsively, allowing both you and your opponent to start throwing out units at each other – left, right and centre. The fights flow and fade brilliantly. They might even be the last three minutes, but there are a lot of tactical decisions to be made on the fly, that’s for sure. Also figuring out the variety of cards to take into battle, determine whether you will acquire victory or crush a defeat.
Above all else, Clash of Royale is an immersive game full of a series of thrilling strategy game that every gamer like. Just like Clash of Clans, all you have to do is stick to the strategy of the game and a few principles, and you’re sure to gain victory! The overall game experience is superb, an edge-of-the-seat classic with alluring content that will keep you busy for weeks – if not months. See you in the arena – enjoy!
